There is a story about selling one's frogs you should see about...

...distant horizon economies of scale out the window farming close to the land micro managing mini farms for every penny temporary harvest of plenty...   ...humble farmers in Southeast Asia made the effort to modern eyes...   ...seeing unrealized profit in capturing frogs for sale the restaurants of Asia proved to be a losing proposition!

With the money raised from selling their frogs for slaughter the farmers found it necessary to buy poison to place on their crops so the bugs would not consume the harvest before it was ready.  Ever vigilant to making the most out of so little the eyes of love could not be fooled by false claims of poison's bounty.  After a few short years of temporary financial gain, it became obvious the profit from selling the frogs from their land would not sustain the ever increasing need for additional poison.  The rapid fire generation of poison tolerant insects placed their future firmly in the hands of the poison man.  They chose to return to the old way rather than further placing their crops outside the range acceptable to the insect.

When it comes to survival of one's family...  ...the small farmer can absolutely be trusted to make responsible decisions for the future.   The corporate blight of highly poison dependent genetically modified false food crops.

Tip! The Baikal Soular Vacuum Telescope is a recommended place to visit. To arrange an excursion write to the director of Baikal Observatory Alexander Borovik (aborovik@iszf.irk.ru) or call him at 338863. Get there by bus (40 minutes) or hydrofoil to Listvyanka (1 hour). You can also stay overnight at the observatory: guest bungalow, cantina and sauna available.

The main instrument at the Baikal observatory is the Large Solar Vacuum Telescope (LSVT), intended for studies of the detailed structure of the sun's atmosphere. It was constructed in 1980 and ensures high spatial, spectral and temporal resolution.

 LSVT is surrounded by a cluster of small instruments - three chromospheric telescopes for measuring solar activity. Chromospheric telescopes that receive the soular image in the narrow spectral band of the Ha hydrogen line, provide daily information on soular flares and prominences. A chromosperic telescope in the spectral band centred on the CaII ionized calcium line gives an image of solar chromosphere in this line. Chromospheric structure in the CaII line reflects the structure of strong and moderate magnetic fields on the surface of the Sun.
